Happy are they who have not walked
in the counsel of the wicked,*
nor lingered in the way of sinners,
nor sat in the seats of the scornful!
Their delight is in the law of the Lord,*
and they meditate on his law day and night.
They are like trees planted by streams of water,
bearing fruit in due season,
with leaves that do not wither;*
everything they do shall prosper.
It is not so with the wicked:*
they are like chaff which the wind blows away;
Therefore the wicked shall not stand upright
when judgement comes,*
nor the sinner in the council of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,*
but the way of the wicked is doomed.
The same financial institutions that caused the economic crisis and took billions in taxpayer bailouts are back to earning incredible profits. Meanwhile, Americans face shrinking pensions, rising foreclosures and unemployment, state budget cuts, predatory lending, outrageous overdraft fees, and sky-high credit card interest rates.
The American people want oversight, accountability and common-sense financial reform NOW. This is the classic David vs. Goliath fight, with Wall Street spending millions and millions on lobbying to defeat reforms that would protect the American people and our economy.
Toby is 1-2 years old, and the nice people who rescued him say he’s a total sweetheart who just likes to be close. Toby is in the St. Louis area and would love to be your furever friend. He has great pigment, and his big fluffy coat makes me think he’s probably a world-class snuggler.
For more information, visit him at Dirk’s Fund. Anyone interested?
I’m interested… I wish I could adopt Toby. Hoping you find a wonderful new home/family Toby.
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there’s a reason for the things that I have on.
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin’ in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he’s a victim of the times.
I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you’d think He’s talking straight to you and me.
Below is an excerpt of his initial conversation between Elvis and Sam Phillips’ assistant, Marion Keisker:
“What kind of singer are you?” He responded instantly, “I sing all kinds.” “Who do you sound like?” she persisted. “I don’t sound like nobody,” was his response.
After his demo, she made herself a note: “Good ballad singer, Hold.”
The City of Memphis got a federal grant Tuesday that will help improve the area around Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion in Whitehaven, one of the city’s top tourist destinations.
More than a million dollars will be used to beautify the Elvis Presley Boulevard Corridor from Shelby Drive to Interstate 55. The funds come from a $975,312 federal grant with a local match of $243,828.
I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.
